HellynTeng

I'm a multifaceted designer with a career spanning 10+ years across UX design and user research, building AI-driven, human-centered products in enterprise and financial services sector, pioneering wearable tech designs, and creating fashion experiences that bridge design and cultural trends. I find purpose in exploring the evolving relationship between people and emerging technology, and learning from diverse perspectives.

A firm believer in collaborative innovation, I'm invested in helping businesses create impactful user experiences and mentoring rising talent in design and user research to support their career growth. My guiding principle is: transformative ideas are sparked when diverse minds come together to learn and create.

I also co-founded Wearable Media, a wearable tech startup that redefined the boundaries of fashion technology. Our venture captured global attention, winning top finalists in the LVMH Innovation Award in Paris, and establishing partnerships with industry giants like Alibaba and music celebs Mariah Carey. My company’s cutting-edge designs have graced the cover of Harper's Bazaar, exhibited in Paris and Shanghai Fashion Weeks and also with The Wall Street Journal’s Future of Everything Festival. We are alumni of top NYC tech incubators including Newlab, NEW INC, and Brooklyn Fashion and Design Accelerator.

Our work has been showcased with Paris/Shanghai Fashion Week, Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, Alibaba/Taobao Maker festival, The Wall Street Journal's The Future of Everything Festival, The Verge, VENICE DESIGN, Paris's Viva Technology, ON CANAL by Wallplay, SXSW, Creative Tech Week, NYC Media Lab, World Maker Faire, Imagine Science Film Festival, New York University, and EdLab, Teachers College at Columbia University. In 2018, we were top 30 finalist for the LVMH Innovation Award in Paris.

I have taught master classes and workshops globally on e-textile technology and physical computing, including at Onassis Stegi in Athens, Premier Vision (Paris's largest fashion and textile trade show), Columbia University, and Parsons School of Design.

In my free time, I ride motorcycles, make electronic music, and advocate for animal protection.

I believe in the power of knowledge sharing and am always open to discussing experiences in design and technology, mentoring, or collaboration.
